Shock A-Go-Go 2004 Press Release
Pasted below is the press-release for our upcoming film-festival: Shock-A-Go-Go 2004. We would like to request that you announce our festival on your site. In return, we will be happy to list you among our sponsors. Thank you very much for the consideration. Sincerely, Eric Eichelberger Anxiety Films FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Eric S. Eichelberger Anxiety Films 2662 Glendale Blvd. Ste. 1 Los Angeles, CA 90039 Home: 323-666-2871 Cell: 323-640-6556 Email: info@anxietyfilms.com Website: http://www.anxietyfilms.com/ANXIETY FILMS HOSTS 4th ANNUAL SHOCK-A-GO-GO FILM FESTIVAL: Nothing so appalling in the annals of film festival history! Los Angeles, CA - December 3-4, 2004 GASP in HORROR as, for the fourth year in a row, Los Angeles based Anxiety Films schedules their annual “Shock-A-Go-Go” [formerly “Shock-O-Rama-A-Go-Go”] 24-hour film-a-thon – this year for December 3-4, 2004. This unique, one-of-a-kind festival will take place at The Vine Theater (6321 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA). Doors will open at 7pm on Friday night and won’t close until at least 2 A.M. on Saturday night/ Sunday morning. SHRIEK in TERROR as Anxiety Films proudly announces a new precedent for the Shock-A-Go-Go festival: a predominance of 35 & 16 mm prints for your viewing pleasure. Though a few video projections are still on the bill, we are very excited to screen many very rare film prints for this year’s festival attendees. TREMBLE with DELIGHT and TREPIDATION as Dita Dirtnap (Horror Host Drag-Queen) hosts this year’s Shock-A-Go-Go, which again positively bursts at the seams with celebrities and live entertainment. Guests include: BARAK EPSTEIN debuting his new film Prison-A-Go-Go, starring RHONDA SHEAR and MARY WORONOV – with rare appearances by the lovely stars themselves – as well as a number of additional surprise guests to shock and astonish you. Last – but certainly not least – this year’s dual-highlighted festival appearances are by none other than exploitation-cinema legends and bold raconteurs, ROGER “King of the B's” CORMAN (A Bucket Of Blood, Not of This Earth, Masque of the Red Death, Death Race 2000, et al), and self-professed “Trash-Film King” DAVID FRIEDMAN (She Freak, The Defilers and the upcoming 2001 Maniacs, et al)! These two explosively dynamic legends of film have been in the field of exploitation cinema since it’s infancy and have continued in this vein until present day! Individually, Mr. Corman and Mr. Friedman are on hand at Shock-A-Go-Go to field questions, and perhaps to regale us with stories of exploitation cinema lore! BECOME VERY APPALLED on Saturday night as Shock-A-Go-Go festival features musical performances by such legendarily outlandish acts as TFMU, Mucus, and The Gabba Gabba Heys (Ramones Tribute). Destined to provoke even the most jaded of audiences – you won’t want to miss this! SQUIRM in DELIGHTED AGITATION while Shock-A-Go-Go presents more than twenty films this year, including our “Gross Out” shorts program. As usual, “Midnight Movie” devotees will delight to old favorites such as Street Trash, Man From Deep River AKA Sacrifice, Burial Ground, Swedish Wildcats, Rock and Roll High School, Detroit 9000, She-Freak, The Defilers, Not of This Earth, Masque of the Red Death, Infra-Man, Death Race 2000 - and many, many more! And, once again, Shock-A-Go-Go presents for those who loved ED WOOD long before his recent resurgence in popularity (and even for those who didn’t), the camp classic – Bride of the Monster. PALPITATE with ANTICIPATION for coveted prizes and giveaways from select sponsors! These will be in high demand – so come early and stay late! Also, a wide array of DVDs, videos, t-shirts, buttons, and an abundance of other B-movie and horror movie merchandise will be available for purchase. And, once again, all attendees are strongly encouraged, but by no means required, to come in costume – a Shock-A-Go-Go tradition! Saturday night will feature a “come dressed as Elvira” costume contest benefiting AIDS research. Past reviews of Shock-A-Go-Go festivals describe the anarchic celebration as: “Messy…frightening…eerie…rude, unruly, and anarchical …[a] nonstop scarathon.” – LA New Times “[Shock-A-Go-Go is a] grueling gross-a-thon [that] didn’t disappoint, especially when the overnighters, sipping alcohol out of colostomy bags, began to talk to the screen, a la Mystery Science Theatre 3000.” - L. A. Weekly And surely this politically troubled year will unearth veritable legions of twisted-movie-buffs eager to, as the LA Downtown News quoted Anxiety Films’ president ERIC S. EICHELBERGER as saying, “get their aggression out - along with their fill of blatant sex, violence, and ultimate gore.” Anxiety Films fully encourages those with a thirst for exploitation cinema knowledge and history to stimulate their brains in an exciting series of lectures and subsequent Q&A sessions with the festival’s special guests. This year’s line-up is legendary – and most definitely a ‘don’t miss’ opportunity! Shock-A-Go-Go tickets start at $25 in advance, but are also available at the door. However, we strongly suggest that you purchase your tickets in advance, as we again expect this event will sell out. Purchase tickets online at www.anxietyfilms.com (also available at Aron’s Records in Hollywood and Wacko AKA Soap Plant in Los Feliz). Ample parking is just $5 and is located across the street. Guests are encouraged to bring sleeping bags and pillows, and also to “Audience Participate” – or as Anxiety Films’ organizer Eric S. Eichelberger likes to call it: “yell insults back at the screen a la Mystery Science Theatre 3000.” Those who seek a very quiet, ‘serious’ cinema experience of ‘quality’ Hollywood Studio fare are strongly encouraged not to attend – Shock-A-Go-Go is definitely not for the meek and mild-mannered!!! To avoid fainting, keep repeating "It's only a festival...It's only a festival..." Gross, Jason Woliner and James Dean Conklin’s “Monkey Walken: An Intimate Portrait,” where the monkey version of Christopher Walken loses all the good roles, Nathan Pommer’s “P13,” the story of one intergalactic young man’s obsession with oatmeal and young girls, Usama Alshaibi’s “Dogirl,” a black and white dream sequence involving Cousin It and cave exploration, Dan Dinello’s “Shock Asylum,” a Hitchock-esque homage to 1950’s Film Noir thrillers, Katherine Chronis’ “Get Naked,” shows you how easy it is to get arrested, Michael Lucid’s “Pretty Things,” a gender-bending sketch comedy show and “Lady of the Lake,” an animated VD love story, Ricky Cozzolino’s “Locust,” starring the band THE LOCUST, Jonathan Buchanan’s “U Got What I Need,” starring the band EX-MODELS, Ramzi Abed’s “The Interview,” whose ending will SHOCK and AMAZE you and “The Tunnel,” featuring Mark Borschardt of “American Movie” fame and legendary Lloyd Kaufman, president of TROMA entertainment, Joshua Granell’s “Grindhuose,” where a -more- ANXIETY FILMS HOSTS 4th MINI-SHCOK FILM FESTIVAL… (pg. 2) failing art theatre becomes the ultimate reality, Steve Hall and Cathee Wilkins’ “Deep Africa,” where two young girls get more than they bargained for when they order an Alien from a magazine ad and “Tonight’s the Night,” a blow-up doll homage to Rosemary’s Baby, and finally, the grand finale, Eric S. Eichelberger and Sham Ibrahim’s “Alien Contact” where Billboard star Angelyne (in her longest running featured film role) contacts aliens from her Malibu Mansion, and Eric S. Eichelberger’s “Fear of a Limp Planet” AKA “The Further Misadventures of Billy the Vampire and the Case of the Dirty Panty Sniffers,” where Billy the Vampire and his gang of Porno entrepreneurs have a battle of wits against Monika A. A wide array of DVDs, videos, t-shirts, buttons, and an abundance of other B-movie and horror movie merchandise will be available for purchase at an assortment of vendor tables. Fans of horror festivals and similar events will not be disappointed. And, of course, all attendees are strongly encouraged, but by no means required, to come in costume. Shock-O-Rama-A-Go-Go (the version of Mini-Shock with feature films) was described as a “messy,” “frightening,” “eerie,” “rude, unruly, and anarchical” “nonstop… scarathon” by the LA New Times. LA Weekly called Shock-O-Rama a “grueling gross-a-thon” that “didn’t disappoint, especially when the overnighters, sipping alcohol out of colostomy bags, began to talk to the screen a la Mystery Science Theatre 3000.” And surely this politically troubled year will unearth veritable legions of movie buffs eager to, as the LA Downtown News quoted Anxiety Films President ERIC S. EICHELBERGER saying, “get their aggression out along with their fill of blatant sex, violence, and ultimate gore.” Mini-Shock 4: Revenge of the Panty-Sniffing, Alien-Contacting Vampires will also feature Performance Art, Derby Dolls on roller skates, B-Movie Bands, and other excitement. The theme for this year’s Mini-Shock is Vampires and Contacting Aliens. Filmgoers who bring their favorite Vampire or Alien or come dressed as Vampires or Aliens will win a prize. Sweetloaf and his team of Performance Artists will show the crowd what it is like to be a MESSY Alien. Mini-Shock 4 will feature a $2 raffle benefiting the Derby Dolls. B-Movie Bands including The Fabulous Prizes (with Nora Keyes from The Centimeters), Andy Dick and Giddle, DJ Photon, and surprise guests will rock you into the late night. Mini-Shock 4: Revenge of the Panty-Sniffing, Alien-Contacting Vampires tickets will cost $10 and will be available in advance at www.anxietyfilms.com or at the door. Okay..so I was asked why I don't write in this journal more...
So I take that as an invitation to write more...Which I shall... Shock-O-Rama-A-Go-Go 2003 Was a blast. If you went and you had fun, you should write to me because I love to hear about your experience! Ted V. Mikels was indeed the coolest B-Filmmaker I have met, a genuinely sweet man, smart guy, and everythong one could grow to love in a filmmaker. No wonder he had a castle full of beautiful women. For more on Ted V. Mikels visit http://www.tedvmikels.com or check out "The Corpse Grinders,"Astro-Zombies," or "Doll Squad." They are all great films. Some highlights of the show were: Some girl quoting "Chasing Amy" in a fun way. Meeting Ted V. Mikels. Don Edmonds and Ilsa: Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheiks. He is really cool for an old(er) guy! I LOVE Battle Royale. There were a lot of cute girls. Bad Horror Movies and Cute Girls don't always go hand in hand. I am thinking more like Fat guy in ZOMBIE t-shirt. The BURLESQUE SHOW was a-fucking-mazing. As was Dame Darcy, Nora Keyes, and Count Smokula. Go to Lenora's show and check him out! He is the funniest Jewish Vampire in a fez I have ever seen. Check out www.anxietyfilms.com for the upcoming release of Bmoviegirls.com and "Fear of A Limp Planet." Or buy a limited edition VHS for only ten bucks by writing me at info@anxietyfilms.com Take care. | | Wednesday, July 2nd, 2003 | | 5:06 pm |

In Heaven... | In Heaven. | You're mysterious, picky, and a bit aloof. Some people say you have a very cheery personality, but it's hard to say because you mask your emotions behind dark pretenses. You enjoy watching obscure movies and going to plays, but by the end of the day you're usually too wound-up by the ironies of your life to relax. | Which Pixies song are you? | | Sunday, June 29th, 2003 | | 12:16 pm |
Rage, Raging, and ABATE...
Rage: Saw 28 Days Later this weekend. Thought it kicked ass. It had The A.L.F., Zombies (not really Zombies, but infected), and a lot of "jump out of your seat" kind of stuff. Someone on LJ compared it to "They Came From Within" which I can sort of see, but I immediately thought of "The Crazies," when I was watching Also, "Dawn of the Dead." Raging: Sunday, J and I went to Raging Waters. I felt relatively thin the whole time I was there. Unlike at that wherehouse party on Sat. Centimeters, Dame Darcy, and 400 Blows played. The people were all too fashionable for their own good. But, not in a bad way. ABATE: One of the Bikers at Raging Waters had an ABATE Shirt. American Bikers Aimed Toward Education. That organization has cracked me up since the late eighties. Another biker had a tattoo that said "White" and "SS." Gross. | | Thursday, June 26th, 2003 | | 2:54 pm |

Hello World, I am back.
Well anyway, I felt like posting. I am at "Ass Job" currently wishing I was in New York or The Desert or something else. I guess I will post things of interest that I attended recently 'cause there is nothing going on here (at work). Tuesday I saw TV Sheriff at Project Ion at Star Shoes. He did a new tune called "Baby Bear" that Joc, Sweetloaf, and I were really fans of. It featured lots of cute, cudly, sweet darling little baby bears. He was also preparing for his trip to Mexico City, so he did Krappy Macaroni and Cheese in Spanish "Crappy Macaroni and Queso" He didn't do "Bob Barker is Satan" but opted for a song about a Mexican Game Show. Overall, It wasn't as good as Shock-O-Rama-A-Go-Go set, but better than at The Smell. Last Weekend I went to Ventura and if you have never been you really should check out: The Skatepark, The thrift stores (Specifically Retarded Children and Abused Women) and there is good Mexican food and Coke in Glass Bottles, also there is the most amazing Video Game store I have ever seen with every game from every system from 1979 to present. They even had Penguin Land for the Sega Master System. They also had Atari 400 and 800's along with a lot of 5200 games. Movies to see: Jess Franco's "Caged Women," Jean Rollin's "Facsination" and Todd Phillips' "Old School" but really just for Will Ferrill(SP?) and the wrestling scene! Did you know you can buy a DeLorian online for like $20,000 or less! | | Sunday, March 9th, 2003 | | 1:51 pm |
Kenny Rogers is a Rocker!
I recently had the pleasure of purchasing the soundtrack to "The Big Lebowski" and my favorite track is called "I Just Dropped in to See What Condition My Condition Was In." I was surprised to find that this track was written and performed by Kenny Rogers and The New Edition. It is quite a rockin' song. Also, "the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep." | | 1:48 pm |

PLANS ARE IN EFFECT
Plans are in effect for a MINI-SHOCK 4 at The Smell, A David Cronenberg screening at The Echo Park Film Center, and some future Anxiety Films/Cult Epics screenings. I begin working for Cult Epics on January 9, 2003! My long awaited return home begins on December 18th. There will be more than enough copies (Gina) of "Corn is the Devil's Penis" for everyone. Yea! The patient are rewarded. Oh, and there is talk of a Z Film Festival in L.A. | | Wednesday, November 20th, 2002 | | 10:38 pm |
